How much does your firm charge for a divorce?

It depends on your particular situation.  Generally, contested divorces are at least 4 times as expensive as uncontested divorces.  Depending on our first phone conversation and what I perceive to be the complexity of your case, I can quote you a likely price by the end of the consultation.  Call me and I will help you get through your current family situation and give you a flat-fee price.

What is a flat-fee price and how is it different from what other attorneys charge?

Most lawyers charge on an hourly basis.  That is, they take a retainer (deposit) from you and they subtract from that retainer their hourly fee for each hour they do legal work for you.  For divorces in the Boston area, hourly rates are generally anywhere from $175-$400/hour.  As you can see, this will rack up very quickly.

NO HOURLY BILLING

My firm, Infinity Law Group, does not bill hourly.  We will quote you a fixed price up-front.  For uncontested matters, we will quote you a fixed price up front for the entire case.  For contested or complex cases, we will quote you a fixed price for a fixed period of time.  For example, a typical fee would be $2000 for every 9-months of representation.  If your case is over within that time, you will only pay the fixed price once.  If your case is very complex and lasts for longer than the agreed upon time period, you can choose to continue using my firm’s services for another fixed price and period or you can choose to not rehire me and my firm.

Why would your law firm charge a fixed price while most other law firms charge hourly?

I have always felt that people should know how much they’re paying for a service before making the decision to engage that service.  Why shouldn’t legal services be the same way?  Billing on a fixed price helps both the law firm and the clients.  The clients know what they’re being charged up-front and the law firm never has to waste time billing and asking clients for retainers or unpaid legal fees.  Since I save time by not having to do hourly billing, that cost savings is transferred to my clients.
