I was married in Massachusetts in 2009 and now live in Texas and can't get a divorce. Is moving to Massachusetts for a year my only option? Or can I move to a different state which will allow same-sex divorce? If so do you happen to know any of these states? Massachusetts gets really cold in the winter months.

My observation of the entire system is that it is "after the fact".
It's like the credit card system. Money up front, chasing people to pay their bills in the rear. I raised my children pretty much by myself over the years. I keep my word when I sign a contract to pay what I owe. This whole scenario is really about whether your kids
grow up in poverty. The sexual revolution basically has created a liability for kids. Men and women wondering who the next sex partner will be and never stopping to look at what it is doing to the kids who come out of all this. My ex owes me 40K in back child support, but then he has two other cases. What the heck!
It appears to me that this guy does not care how these kids feel.
Why should I chase a grown man around to collect money off him
when all he does is go from one sex partner to another. I think there is a bigger problem here. It became quite obvious to me that he never learned anything in the home and that after watching his parents run around after him, perhaps the problem is not child support. I don't think it matters who he is with, from what I can see he is like a bee who goes from one flower to another. The children that come from all these relationships are the real victims of these people's sexual habits. Put yourself in the kids shoes for once people. Some of these kids are on public aid and see nothing but poverty, or the custodial parent is working their asses off to pay all of the support and take care of the kids too no matter who has custody. My observation of the child support system is the same as the credit card system. People abuse the credit card system every day. So here it comes people. No kid wants to go through life feeling unwanted or living in poverty gang. It's demeaning. Nor do I want to chase a grown man around for child support, that is demeaning too. So maybe a it's time to re-evaluate the sexual revolution. Maybe dating is okay, but sex comes with a high liability, just as much as having a mortgage on a home. Let's just say after I seperated from my ex I stopped dating for a long time, I took a good look at my children and what divorce has done to them. Now I either don't date, or I just have dinner with others. Why? Because I don't want to contribute the unhappiness of others. If you have to chase a person around for child support or any other reason there is a bigger problem here. My ex has a number of cases of child support, and he runs home to MOM. What is the real problem with this guy? Child Support, I don't think so. I am no longer going to put my life into the hands of a generation that was taught to be uncommited. Why? So I can chase people around the country? Last time I saw my ex in court after he used all the time for himself, and did not even send support or medical for the whole time our son has been alive and he wanted a Stipulation at the last minute before our son turned 18 with no documentation that he had ever been unemployed, and when I saw the way he had been taught about family life, and his roaming all over the place and having unprotected sex with other women and not even caring about the children in those relationships I began to see a different story. It's sort of like someone expecting you to let them live in your home for free for one year without every paying rent before they will buy it. And of course no one would do that. People returning home to MOM or never leaving home from this generation way up into their 40's and 50's and how the "Real Children" suffer so that the parents who show a "Failure to Launch" can live at home with their parents or just roam around looking for relationships with unconditional love like they get from their parents. No more people. Needless to say I blew him off. Let the DA deal with it, and remind myself why I no longer sleep with others. I don't like to see children go without, and all this sleeping around is causing all these children heartache gang. Men and women need to practice birth control, or just give up going from relationship to relationship looking for the "perfect relationship". Perhaps our problems in this country is that we never learned anything about personal relationships when we were in school or being raised and that is at the root of the whole affair. I will let the DA get whatever arrears are involved here. My son is 18, the government seems to be playing MOM to everyone, and I really don't want to see this guy again. Anyone that I have to take to court to support their children and plays these kinds of games with others is not meant to be in my home or anyone elses. And that is my observation. This guy has a "Failure to Launch" into the adult world.

You can do it yourself or have an attorney do it. But in this day and age with email and cell phones, it's not hard to negotiate an agreement over great distances.

"Child Support is intended to insulate children from the economic impact a divorce can have on a child’s standard of living" - this is an excellent clarification, thank you.

I'm really enjoying your blog
